As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout my education, I have been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for YOU. I recognize that everyone has unique needs and goals. Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions of “good and bad” foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively creating a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.
I am also a certified teacher with a BS in Elementary Education, ESE certification, Reading Endorsement, and extensive ESL teaching experience. I feel that the skills I acquired as a teacher are added benefits to my coaching skills; communication skills, listening skills, a deep knowledge and passion for my subject matter, strong work ethic, and ability to motivate and instill confidence. As a former classroom teacher who experienced burn-out as a result of adrenal fatigue, stress, anxiety and an eventual trip to the hospital with a TIA that was diagnosed as being caused from stress,
I now incorporate the strategies and practices that worked for me into my coaching practice.

I met Linda at one of the most unpredictable times in my life, which also happened to be when I needed her the most. A: It only costs an hour of your time. I offer a one hour complementary consultation.

The Beginning: A headache, Uncle John, and my big toe (Yes, really!)
The story of why I became a Health Coach would not be complete without painting a picture of me as a thirteen year old girl with a massive headache, lying miserably on the couch when my very tall, wise great Uncle John paid a visit and promptly asked for my foot (after having me drink a large glass of water). He then proceeded to rub the side of my big toe, which resulted in my headache disappearing. Sounds a bit crazy, right? Actually, not at all! This was my first experience with the realm of natural health care. Sometimes it can be as simple as drinking more water and understanding how all the parts of your body are connected.
I continued to be exposed to other avenues of natural health care. I worked my way through college working for a chiropractor. I observed that the body was created to heal itself if we care for it properly. Later, when I started a family, I always took my children to him first if they had a physical problem. Most of the time they got better on their own after an adjustment, which allowed their bodies to go back to a state of balance.
The middle: Tragedy and Trauma
In writing my story, it’s necessary to add that there are pieces missing…missing because the stress caused by trauma left gaps in my memory. I got very good at “checking out” in an effort to disengage from my circumstances. I include this because it has a lot to do with my passion for helping people see how powerful the mind/body connection can be. Growing up mostly in boarding school overseas came with constant good-byes and a multitude of other factors that caused a protective emotional barrier to form. Then came unresolved grief from the death of a boyfriend, the loss of a child, and an unhealthy marriage that resulted in feelings of total worthlessness and hopelessness. Raising three children mostly on my own involved putting all my energy into simply surviving and I ended up “overdrawn” emotionally and physically. A key component running through my life was anxiety so overwhelming that I was rarely able to take a deep breath. When I finally started working at the career I went to college for (teaching), I really thought I was finally on the right track. In true form, I over-extended, over-thought, over-worked, over-analyzed, and pretty much went “over the edge”. Mind you, I was doing a great job…but at the expense of my health. Working in a building that had black mold didn’t help. After noticing and trying to ignore what I now know were serious symptoms involving brain health, I had a TIA (trans-ischemic attack or mini-stroke) and ended up in the hospital. Anxiety, panic, loss of balance, dizziness, and loss of confidence followed. In the midst of it all, there was always that underlying feeling that I was not fulfilling my life purpose or pursuing my passion. My post TIA treatment involved a wonderful MD (Internist) who listened, but didn’t know how to help me, except to refuse to allow me to return to my job. His exact words were “If you don’t put the oxygen on yourself first, you can’t help the passengers.” Because he saw no medical reason for my TIA, he attributed it to stress. After looking into alternative treatment, I received help from a Chiropractic Neurologist and a Neurosomatic Specialist who viewed my condition from a functional perspective. Treatment resulted in my body being able to achieve a balanced state of homeostasis. In addition, I learned about the healing qualities of essential oils, which I used as part of my healing process. I learned through my health coaching course to listen to my body and do what it was telling me I needed. At times, this meant simply doing nothing at all…sitting in stillness, breathing, meditating, writing, eating nourishing food…healing.
The continuation: (certainly not the end!)
Throughout these experiences, I maintained the deep-rooted desire for my life work to be in the natural healthcare field. It is my belief that we do not have a healthcare system, but a disease management system. I believe our bodies are designed by God to heal themselves if we care for them properly. Experiencing this firsthand has been a driving force in my passion to help others find healing. As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, also certified in Hormone Health, I now fulfill that purpose. In going through my training, I basically became my own client. I realized that so much of my physical and emotional stress came from the mere fact that I was not being true to my authentic self and purpose. I learned how to do life differently; from the way I think to the way I eat. The results? I am healthy, grounded, confident, content, joyful, and peaceful. I also realized that because of my own wellness journey and training in the connection between the mind and the body, I have authentic qualifications to specialize in helping others find wellness.
